About Alfonso Cuesta

As a serial entrepreneur and creative director with 20+ years of experience, I use the power of creativity to build brands and tell their stories. I lead Salta With Us, an Idea F1rst advertising agency that is nimble, diverse, and focused on creating good work for good people. We work with some of the most iconic organizations in our region, such as NPR, and Johns Hopkins, across digital, social, and traditional media platforms.I am also the co-founder of Non-Fungible Trophies, a product we invented on the back of NFT technology. These digital trophies are the best way of recognizing individual members of a winning team in an advertising or entertainment industry competition, with an award that is meaningful, useful, and exciting to receive. I am fascinated by all the opportunities NFTs are offering, and I love to explore ways to leverage the power of smart contracts and the blockchain for innovative and impactful solutions.

    Creative Director & Founder
Salta With Us May 2014 - Present
    Silver Spring, Maryland, Us
In 2014 I jumped into the unknown and along with my entrepreneurial wife, started Salta With Us. A small but creatively mighty agency, operating under a distributed model, with talent scattered across the world, bringing a fresh approach to how an advertising agency can operate and behave. In the last 5 years our diverse team has been constantly pushing the limits of creativity, building and reshaping brands, dreaming campaigns for every possible medium, while having a ton of fun. Constantly overdelivering in our work for some of the most iconic organizations in our region like Airbus, NPR and Johns Hopkins to name a few.

  • Free Range Studios
    Creative Director
Free Range Studios Jul 2013 - May 2014
    Boston, Ma, Us
As someone personally dedicated to living a low-impact life, and filling evenings and weekends on pro bono work to satisfy his desire to create work that was personally meaningful, Alfonso made the leap to embrace his desire for something greater. His enthusiasm and ability to surprise and delight have become contagious, powerful ingredients leading Free Range’s creative team in D.C., while creating positive change in the world by helping to inform and empower citizens.
  • Discovery Communications
    International Creative Director
    Discovery Communications Dec 2009 - Jul 2013
    New York, Us
At Discovery I have been tasked with leading the International team at Discovery's internal agency. All work that is produced must be thought of from a fully integrated level , while always keeping the high standards of Discovery and the brand we work so hard to maintain in the forefront of our minds. While working on some of the emerging networks within the portfolio, I was tasked to develop campaigns with little or no money, as these nets are required to “prove their worth” before they are allocated more funding. In my three years as Creative Director, more and more regions have asked to work with my team and have tasked us with developing creative that will resonate in various countries using different media platforms.
  • Jumpconmigo.Com
24/7 Job Hunter / Adventurous Creative
    Jumpconmigo.Com Sep 2008 - Dec 2009
Moved from Spain to the US and made my job finding a job as quickly as possible. It was hard at times but loved the experience: A lot of networking helped me meet with very interesting people in different agencies.
  • Kaplan Df
    Creative Director
    Kaplan Df Feb 2008 - Jul 2009
I worked as an interactive creative director reporting to the president. My mission at Kaplan was to establish and grow the division to a point where it could be self sufficient and profitable. In six months we achieved this goal, developing a solid business opportunity in the interactive area. I lead the iBanesto (Spanish bank) web design and 360º launching campaign for an e-bank that achieved its trimester goals for capital and clients growth in only 45 days (corporate site, campaign flash site, viral videos, You Tube channel, massive banner campaign). I also worked on the capitalisation of the Rafa Nadal sponsorship, creating high impact actions such as “congratulate Nadal” a web site where users could upload their picture and signature as a dedicatory to the Roland Garros champion; in 20 days we accomplished 280,000 visits and at the end of the summer we handed Nadal a book with 3,000 moving dediacations selected from the web. Clients: Banesto, iBanesto, Puma-Time, Prissa innova
  • Comunica +A
Senior Art Director / Creative Director
    Comunica +A May 2005 - Jan 2008
    Madrid, Community Of Madrid, Es
I was recruited by Comunica (HIGH CO.), one of the strongest and fastest growing national agencies, known for it’s quick response to clients needs (masters of the impossible) and very demanding rhythm of work, with a strong focus on results (for both, the agency and the client). I contributed to the successful completion of milestones for the Spanish BTL and promotional marketing. I also worked in one of the most successful promotion campaigns in Spain; "The Coca-Cola apartment": For a month, every Coke Light can contained a pin code that could be worth a 300,000 euros apartment in Madrid. During that month, different events took place in the apartment such as PS3 championship, Jamie Cullum private concert, etc. This campaign beat the record for participation and consumption of coke light can; a million and a half cans in less than two months. We were awarded the EFI prize. I also worked for Amena (third largest Spanish mobile services company at the time) creating direct response marketing and store marketing. During that period we won every seasonal campaign competition against the other agencies working for Amena. I worked the re-branding of Orange (Spanish mobile services company); in 2 months we create everything from scratch, from shop sales material, to information and incentive plans to the sales force. In 2007 I was promoted to creative director and started the creative department of Comunica’s interactive division.  Clients: Amena / Orange, Gas Natural, Banco Santander, Coca-Cola, Real Madrid, IFEMA,
  • Tequila
    Art Director
    Tequila 2003 - 2005
    Tequila, Jalisco, Mx
I formed a multidisciplinary team to more responsively address the needs of campaigns that increasingly integrated more advertising venues.  With a direct response copywriter , we develop some high impact, award winning mails for ONO, but also B2B, intranets and incentive plans trough internet for Vodafone and McDonald´s. For PlayStation we create a social media platform for street artists; “UrbanArt”; in a couple of months, we registered over 30.000 users. This was accomplished before terms like “web 2.0” and “social media” were part of the main-stream.   For this work we were awarded the IMAN prize.  Clients: ONO (Internet, TV and telephone provider), Vodafone, Cannon, PlayStation, Sony Music, Nokia, Paramount Comedy and McDonald’s Local store marketing
  • Tbwa

    Tbwa 2000 - 2002

Who said that economists were boring? The main characters of this campaign were modeling clay cartoons in the Wallace and Gromit fashion. We were awarded the “Expansion award” for best institutional online campaign.  Clients: Ministerio de Economía (Euro launching campaign), Ministerio de Defensa, IEF, Inmoclick, Jobline, Consors, PlayStation, British Telecom, Michelin
