Operating on a little over $1 million in angel funding for 2 years, with a five-man team, we designed four UL & FDA approved products that are generating sales with nationally recognized surgeons. I took on many responsibilities on such a small team, including project management, engineering, manufacturing & supply chain management.-Project Manager & Lead Engineer to successfully complete the AqueShield Periorbital, Mandibular & Full Face Mask projects in parallel. Managed suppliers to reduce development time from 18 weeks to 12 weeks to meet critical project schedules.-Mechanical Design Engineer for AqueCool Device. Co-Managed industrial design firm in developing design of the device. Assumed responsibility for completing enclosure design and redesigning internal assembly to optimize manufacturability and reduce costs after industrial design was complete.-Worked with local CM to produce the AqueCool Device. Created assembly instructions and worked at CM’s facility to train the engineers and technicians on the assembly of our product.-Identified and managed Chinese supplier for sewn mask assemblies. Transitioned work performed by 3 different local suppliers to one facility.     Onetta developed the most advanced Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs) in the optical telecommunications industry, serving customers such as Cisco, ONI, Cienna, Lucent and Tellabs.-Lead Mechanical Engineer for all Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) product lines.-Mechanical redesign of IOE 11100 Long Haul/Ultra Long Haul Series EDFA product line resulted in 36% cost reduction ($582 to $371) of mechanical parts while greatly improving design flexibility, manufacturability, quality and reliability.-Implementation of Plastic Injection Molding on optical connector fiber assembly (pigtail) anchor resulted in 97% cost reduction ($16 to $0.50). Achieved a total cost savings of over $150,000 in the first year.-Implementation of Die Casting on IOE 11300 Metro/Regional Series EDFA product line resulted in 88% cost reduction ($280 to $35) of mechanical parts.-Worked with Manufacturing Engineering to transition products into manufacturing by providing detailed Assembly Instructions and overseeing product Beta builds on the manufacturing floor.-Work with vendors to resolve critical failures and determine Cause and Corrective Actions (C&CA). Most notably, worked with optical connector supplier over a one year period to fully understand all relevant pigtail assembly processes and requirements, including GR-326-CORE and IEC/PAS 61300-3-35. Our combined efforts resulted in improved manufacturing and inspection processes for our vendor and improved pigtail assembly designs and specifications for Onetta. The pigtail reject rate improved from 60% to 5%.-Worked with Reliability Engineering to prepare mechanical sections of Telecordia Qualification Test Plans/Test Reports and to perform/oversee mechanical qualification testing.-Played an integral role in the setup of Agile and of the Onetta documentation structure upon which all subsequent Onetta documentation, part numbers and BOMs are based.-Created and implemented Change Management Process.
