As the Director of Environmental Justice, my primary responsibility is overseeing our organizations role as the Watershed Coordinator for the Upper San Gabriel River Watershed and to represent Day One as the lead staff for the Upper San Gabriel River Watershed area. As the appointed Watershed Coordinator, I support the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, and Upper San Gabriel River Watershed Area Steering Committee, which includes over twenty cities in the San Gabriel Valley and multiple unincorporated communities in Los Angeles County.As the Watershed Coordinator, I also serve as a non-voting member on the Upper San Gabriel River Watershed Area Steering Committee, provide updates on benchmarks, help guide decision-making, facilitate collaborative decision-making to develop and implement actions that best address community priorities, integrate community, municipality, and regional priorities through partnerships and extensive networks, organize public outreach events included in Stormwater Investment Plans to educate stakeholders, and collaborate with all other Safe, Clean Water Program Watershed Coordinators to help ensure consistency in implementation and to inform each other of effective efforts, outreach, and communication approaches. Additional duties include attending weekly organization leadership meetings to help drive organizational direction and vision, finding, writing and submitting various grants that align with our mission to supplement existing programs.
