The greatest award for me is being described by peers as the one whom they can “walk through news-fire with.” Trust is a key concept in my studies in political science and remains central in journalism. A national award for my efforts in building trust within Lithuanian society remains particularly dear to me, even though I have since moved to the international domain. I am on a mission of building trust between European public broadcasters and their audiences. I excel in leading day-news teams and in sourcing coverage to illustrate the most significant stories of our time, including those related to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. My understanding of international politics, verification, and negotiation skills is very solid, while leadership techniques enhance team cohesion, reduce unconscious bias, and foster inclusion. All of this helps ensure we get the facts right. Because without facts, you can't have truth. Without truth, you can't have trust. Without these three things, we have no shared reality, can't solve problems, and have no democracy. I mark these words by Maria Ressa as my pledge to all those willing to work with me.
