As a research assistant I worked for a period of time in two different labs. The first lab I worked in was a skin and trauma lab. I continuously grew skin cells and performed experiments on the skin cells to manipulate certain variables and record data on how that affected the growth of the skin cells. In the breast cancer research lab, I worked mainly with ER+ cells looking closely at the Notch signaling pathway. I would run multiple experiments over and over to see if the results were accurate. Being detail oriented and understanding the science was key to being successful. I performed knockdowns of genes, split cells, grew cells up, over expressions, even both knockdown and over expression in the same experiments.I presented in weekly meetings going over data in journal articles, presenting my research findings, presenting the signaling pathway and the science behind it to names few.

As a Physical Therapy Technician at a busy clinic in multitasking was one of the most important skills to have. I was constantly given multiple patients to work with. My duties were to not only update their exercises, but progress them or regress them as necessary. Additionally, I was to send them home with homework to work on to strengthen at home in order to make a speedy recovery. In clinic, I was to watch and correct form, add or take away weight when appropriate and challenge in any way possible when the patient was ready. When the front desk left for the day or was away at lunch, my responibilites also included answering phones, updating the therapists schedules, coordinating evaultations, patients sessions, taking down insurance information for submission for coverage. Every week I took inventory of what was low and ordered supplies at the end of each month so the clinic was always fully stocked. I cleaned the clinic on a daily basis as well as kept the laundry going all day long. I was the main contact for the medical supplies reps and ordered take home machines for paitents, verifiying insurance and working with the patient and the rep to make sure both the patient knew what was covered and how the machine worked.
