Physician Research Scientist with broad experience in imaging sciences and cell biology. Extensive clinical and pre-clinical experiences in nuclear medicine (nuclear cardiology, nuclear oncology, and cerebral perfusion), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-ray computed tomography (CT), ultrasonography and molecular imaging. Extensive experiences in cell biology (including stem cells), cell transfection, cellular labeling of MR contrast agents, the biodistribution of radiopharmaceuticals, radiopharmacokinetics, cell membrane ion channels modulation, tumor model preparation, flow cytometry, and immunochemistry. Experienced in managing clinical department and basic research laboratory. Since 2004 Dr. Arbab has been in leadership positions to lead laboratories (cellular and molecular imaging, and tumor angiogenesis laboratories and small animal imaging facilities). Dr. Arbab has been awarded multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH, R01, and R21) and AHA grants to conduct research on glioma, stroke, traumatic brain injury.Dr. Arbab has experience working with big pharma to deliver timely research reports on imaging using different animal models, MRI and nuclear medicine imaging modalities.Current interests: Different animal models to determine neovascularization, mechanisms of resistance to therapies, the involvement of tumor microenvironment and progenitor cells in tumor growth and invasion. Dr. Arbab is willing to work with any CRO to conduct research on different animal models and small animal imaging including MRI, SPECT, CT, Ultrasound, and optical imaging.
