About Ali Darudi
Fascinated by the incredibly multidisciplinary nature of electricity markets, I became passionate to be the person bridging its engineering and economics sides. Therefore, during my bachelor and master programs in Electrical Engineering, I focused my research on both technical and economic disciplines of electricity markets. Having worked on technical side (R&D - smart metering) and techno-economic side (researcher - local TSO), I realized that, to better bridge the two sides, I need to dive deeper in Economics and joined the Chair of Energy Economics (Professor Weigt) in Basel as a PhD student. Covering Micro/Macroeconomics and Econometrics (statistical methods) in Gerzensee program (funded by Swiss National Bank) helped getting into the mindset of economists.Currently, I am working on:- Future swiss electricity market design (for Bundesamt für Energie)- Electric mobility and its effects on Swiss grid- System adequacy studies (for Bundesamt für Energie)
