Design Manager in UU Integrated Engineering Services (IES) delivering complex metro and regional wastewater infrastructure capital projects ($60M+). Projects spread across the business, from standard WWTP operations upgrades to biogas, biosolids, PFAS, tankered waste digitisation upgrades, and future water scenarios modelling. Tasks cover:- Leading the oversight and management of the planning and design process, including coordinated review of planning and design drafts with client departments, stakeholders and applicable governing agencies.- Developing Gate 2/3 Business cases for water infrastructure upgrades or renewals, including defining project benefits, risk profiles, and forecasted impacts across the business.- Managing design stages including design review and SiD workshops, cost estimates, SOW, RFP, RFQ, etc. with Quality management and compliance with design procedures.- Coordinating design submissions of different design disciplines, and management across different sectors and interfaces.- Manage resourcing of design team and coordinate with other functional leaders to ensure efficient and effective project delivery- Identify and escalate key design issues and risks, and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to develop actionable solutions- Reviewing and approving design deliverables to ensure adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant local regulations and codes- Planning and managing the projects' budget, schedule, resourcing, forecasting.- Monitoring and Providing regular updates on the progress of design development to program and project leadership, with cost and schedule control vs. project budget including change orders, and target cost estimates & work packages.- Contractors and Consultants management- Build successful working relationships with internal departments, consultants & sub-consultants, as well as contractors and sub-contractors.
