Hi, I'm Ali and I work on planning cases for nationally significant energy projects within the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. I use experiences from my service as a Team Leader and Project Manager in The Parachute Regiment and British Army, combined with my MSc education in Sustainable Development, to progress planning applications which are vital in helping make the transition to a low-carbon energy industry and country. My management skills allow me to have responsibility for multiple projects simultaneously to deliver time-critical results - planning applications for solar farms, wind farms, and other nationally significant energy projects have a statutory 3-month project lifecycle within which a decision - or Development Consent Order - must be made. The current demand for DCOs to be approved by the Secretary of State is high, and I promote collaborative problem solving within my project teams to generate results at pace.Reaching net zero is an enormous task but I relish the opportunity I have to contribute to decarbonising the energy sector. In energy infrastructure planning, I have found a field where I can combine my personal passions and industrious work ethic in a team-oriented environment. I take pride in supporting the development of UK-based energy projects which are of great importance for both energy users and the environment. Equally, I understand that applications must meet rigorous standards, and I have to analyse data and work with various stakeholders to ensure a project will be of more benefit than harm to the UK.
