I have taught in West Cumbria for a number of years but in that time, I believe I have helped hundreds, if not thousands, of young people and tried to enthuse them with a love of Maths and ICT. I was AOL's Education Channel's UK Maths Host, with my own website to motivate school students with the more interesting side of maths as well as helping them online with homework, coursework and revision tips. I also had a short contract with the BBC to develop some digital coursework and revision tips just as BBC's Bitesize was about to be launched. I have worked for different exam boards as a Maths Examiner. Computer Studies Examiner. ICT Senior Examiner and ICT Senior Moderator. I won a Cumbria Education Strategy Award for work in developing and promoting the use of Moodle in our area and for several years was a Secondary ICT Lead Teacher in West Cumbria whilst the National Strategy was in place. I have also been both Maths and ICT subject mentors for student teachers - undergraduates and postgraduates. My current projects involve the British Council's Connecting Classrooms initiative, with Cumbria and Hualien, in Taiwan, as well as early links with other East Asian countries and helping to promote Computing through the National Network of Excellence.
