About Ali Rahman

- I am a Project finance/PPP/Infrastructure Specialist bringing a unique combination of finance, investment banking and technology along with over 18 years of work experience in area of public private partnerships, project & infrastructure finance, infrastructure project development, project advisory, private equity, infrastructure investments, management consulting, venture capital and startups, both in public and private sector. - I have handled various projects that have been undertaken for development under PPP mode (valuing at over US$ 25b) ranging from hard core green-field & brown-field infrastructure projects to devising PPP frameworks/policies to carrying out consulting assignments; and has performed a variety of investment banking roles at various levels coupled with developing PE Funds, conducting capacity building activities, and building startups. - Focus of my work over the past many years has been; a) Preparing projects for development & implementation under PPP mode from both buy-side and sell-side perspectives, and managing & monitoring projects development throughout the project development life cycle, from inception to transaction structuring to transaction implementation/procurement, and b) Carrying out management consulting and policies/framework development work pertaining to infrastructure and PPPs, coupled with devising & executing PPP programs, developing alternative financing windows, and conducting capacity building of public and private sector institutions on infrastructure development.- Have closed over US$ 500m of projects on PPP mode with more in the pipeline. Projects worked on belong to various sectors; Energy, Transport & Logistics, Renewable Energy, Urban Mass Transit, Roads, Tourism, Financial, Social & Municipal, Office/Industrial and Information Technology. I bring work experience at all levels; national, international, private, public, multi-lateral and donor agencies, both in local & international markets.- In the last 5-8 Years I have also been involved in setting-up/advising four startups associated with the Technology, Finance, and Infrastructure disciplines. And advising in Board Member capacity on two of the largest infrastructure initiatives being undertaken by the government to enhance Pakistan’s infrastructure competitiveness by building a new City on 100,000 Acres and a Business District on over 300 Acres with private sector investment. These two initiatives look to attract over US$ 100b in infrastructure investment over 10-30 years.
