- Design, commission and manage in-country field research to inform the implementation of a broad-based program of in-kind grants for activities which can prevent or reduce conflict in the states and counties of South Sudan, using both in-house and external expertise. - Monitoring and Evaluation of VISTAS/USAID activities in South Sudan, through the existing systems run by the Monitoring, Mapping and Technology Specialist, M&E team, Program Analyst and the Information Officers, in accordance with the procedures developed over the life of VISTAS, in line with the requirements of USAID. - Production every two weeks of a synthesis of the Regional Conflict Advisors’ (RCAs) weekly reports and the view from the capital and the region, in order to compile a concise, regular overview which can be shared with VISTAS and USAID. - Technical support to the Regional Conflict Advisers deployed in the areas where VISTAS works, so that their analysis can help build a shared approach and a common understanding within the VISTAS team and also with OTI and US Embassy staff.- Ensuring that lessons are learned from both successful and unsuccessful programs, using or developing the existing systems, so that such learning can be incorporated into the design and development of future VISTAS grants. - Organizing, with the Senior Management Team and Washington-based colleagues, the yearly Strategic Review process and ensuring that its output is understood and communicated across the VISTAS team.- Managing the information team to ensure compliance with the activity database and the promulgation of success stories and lessons learned.- Supervise all weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including Performance Management Plans and F-Indicator reporting.
South Sudan
• Designed, wrote and implemented in-kind grants worth over $5 million for USAID's South Sudan Transition and Conflict Mitigation Program geared towards mitigating conflict in the non-demarcated border between Sudan and South Sudan.• Worked in partnership with State government authorities - Governors' offices, County Commissioners, Tribal Authorities and State Ministries to design and implement these grants.• Successfully held peace conferences between the tribes along the heavily militarized border between Darfur, Kordofan and South Sudan in 2013, which enabled trade and the first cross-border livestock migration since South Sudan’s independence. • Supervised construction and restoration of various Local Government facilities and Radio Communication towers in remote locations, and equipping them with sustainable energy solutions along the border between the Sudan’s.
Sudan
- Designed and implemented grants for USAID's South Sudan Transition and Conflict Mitigation Program in Lakes and Unity State.- Designed, wrote and implemented several in-kind grants worth over $500,000 in 6 months geared towards mitigating interstate conflict by involving at-risk youth from rival tribes in construction and communication projects. - Createdline item budgets for each of the grants written following USAID procedures and guidelines. - Supervised construction and restoration of various government facilities - including constructing 6 local government head-quarters and 20 new radio communication towers in remote locations.- Worked in partnership with Governors' offices, County Commissioners and State Ministries.
Sudan
• In charge of country wide operations for the multimillion dollar South Sudan Guinea Worm Eradication Program in partnership with the Government of Southern Sudan to strengthen capacity and provide closer oversight regarding the implementation of interventions to stop transmission of Guinea worm disease (GWD). • Assisted the Country Director and Deputy Country Director to supervise and monitor; transportation, procurement, and operational management of The Carter Center supported programs for 400 staff members.• Directly supervised the Operations Managers in charge of supply hubs, which support 45 sub-stations in 6 states. • Provided recommendations on finance, transportation, procurement and administrative topics for operations at the sub-office, supply hub and national level. • Assisted the Deputy Country Director and Country Director with annual shipping plans and needs forecasting for supplying all sub-offices in the area-of-responsibility with all needed resources for a calendar year.
