HYPE Athletics is a private, non-profit human service organization which provides services to nearly 100,000 children and adults annually in Wayne County, Michigan. Founded by in 2001 – and approved as a 501(c) (3) entity with the Internal Revenue Service in 2001 – the organization is committed to strengthening communities by providing quality social skills development interventions, athletic skills enhancement and competition, tutoring, advocacy and mentoring opportunities to at-risk youth throughout southeastern Michigan. HYPE Athletics’ social work services are provided by degree holding social workers and educators, and all athletic activities and competitions are supervised by certified coaches and referees. The HYPE Recreation Center, located in Dearborn Heights, is a 104,000 sq ft center with classrooms, computer lab, library, five basketball/volleyball courts, indoor track, co-ed fitness room as well as a women's only fitness room, locker rooms with showers and a cafe,
