Database Administrator
I had the opportunity to work with teams focused on Oracle, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL. As it was my first internship, I wasn't aware that interns are often given limited hands-on responsibilities. Hence, after completing the initial setup and getting familiar with my colleagues, I took the initiative to sit with a coworker each day, observing their daily tasks and communication between management and different departments.Through this experience, I gained valuable insights into how these teams operate as a single unit, which was quite different from what I had initially expected. I am incredibly grateful for the chance to work especially alongside Rana Gunduz, who gave me a glimpse of the professional I aspire to become. Some key tasks I learned included executing scripts, managing user permissions, clearing logs, performing backups, and troubleshooting log errors. Performed with extreme caution, I realized the importance and sensitivity of working with live data. Although I worked on various tasks, most of my time was spent understanding the architectures of PostgreSQL and Oracle. The appeal of open-source technology left a lasting impression on me. As a farewell, I’m proud to have developed a Python script for the Postgre team to automate one of their key tasks. After thorough examination and testing, they quickly integrated it into their workflow.
