In spite of the success, the stiff competitiveness existent within the industry is directly related to any weakness that may impact the overall tourism growth. However, it is evident that the health sector of the industry requires improvement to further develop the industry. As per the present condition of our tourism health sector, proper medical facilities are not made available on site when a tourist requires instant medical care which compels the respective resort managements to transfer such tourists to Male’, the capital of Maldives for further treatment. Such arrangements disrupt the course of their vacations, and make their stay in the resorts less desirable. Hence, Medplus Maldives was formed on 20 March 2011, to address and overcome the major issues in the health sector by providing expert medical care on site.
