The 'Movember Barbershop' was created by two students working for the York University student centre, in a promotions role looking for a way to create an event to empower students and support a great cause. Myself and co-founder created this event with a mission to not only raise awareness to a cause/charity that is important to many, but to also provide a service that many students need, for a very affordable cost. We created a pop-up barbershop on campus that was planned for the end of… Show more The 'Movember Barbershop' was created by two students working for the York University student centre, in a promotions role looking for a way to create an event to empower students and support a great cause. Myself and co-founder created this event with a mission to not only raise awareness to a cause/charity that is important to many, but to also provide a service that many students need, for a very affordable cost. We created a pop-up barbershop on campus that was planned for the end of 'No-shave November', where haircuts, shaves and trims were provided for a small donation of $5-$10, with all proceeds going to the Movember Foundation. We reached out to many different barbershops in the area, presenting our plan to the barbers, and asking if they would donate their time to us and the students for this cause. This event was purely on a volunteer/charity basis, and created plenty of success over the years! The Movember Barber Shop saw success for 5 consecutive years; unfortunately due to the pandemic the event was put on pause for 2020. Show less

Along with training, I was also responsible for planning and executing OTL 2018 (Orient the Leader training) at York University. This event was a day full of different presentations/training for the upcoming frosh leaders. This event hosted up to 1000 students, who were to be coordinated rotating in and out of different sessions/lunch throughout the span of a day. Within my role, I created a training presentation weekly, every Thursday, to present to a group of around 15-20 students. I was responsible for training these students on topics from inclusivity, 5 Lizzio Senses, active bystander, CPR, mental health, the orientation process and training specific to their faculty.
