Created the first global Land Use/ Land Cover (LULC) map at 10m resolution by applying deep learning computer vision models (along with pre and post processing) to 1.2 PB of satellite imagery in about 10 days using 1 million cpu core hours.Repeated this process for 5 additional years and created a system to build LULC maps for any date and location for which data exists.Used similar methods and tools to support training deep learning computer vision models.Led the migration of UN Biodiversity Lab data explorer from AWS/Google Earth Engine to Azure/Microsoft Planetary Computer.

As a Co-Founder of the company, I helped grow Descartes Labs from 6 employees to over 100 in under 5 years. I have done so primarily as an individual contributor; finding gaps in our capabilities and filling them until we can hire others to focus on specific focus areas. Specifically, I designed, developed, deployed and documented a distributed system for geospatial data exploration and analysis as part of an ever growing and changing engineering team.
