About Ali Nawaz Babar
Leading technical activities for ConScience in Denmark. PhD in Photonics from the Department of Electrical and Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark. Phd research focused on design, nanofabrication, and characterization of photonic nanocavities and nanoelectromechanical systems. During the PhD, developed a process to fabricate nanocavities with atomic-scale dimensions by integrating top-down nanopatterning with bottom-up self-assembly in a suspended silicon-on-insulator platform. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative, team-oriented environment and always motivated and driven to take the initiative. Before moving to Copenhagen for my PhD research, I spent two years pursuing a master's in optics and photonics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. I also worked as a researcher at the University of Cambridge on developing a novel method of detecting single macromolecules in solution with a nanofluidic-based approach by integrating UV lithography with direct laser writing, which resulted in several publications.Worked for three years in the manufacturing industry before relocating away from my home country to pursue my passion for science and nanotechnology. Successfully implemented World Class Manufacturing practices to reduce factory costs by improving machine efficiencies through proactive and preventive maintenance planning. Also led the factory savings agenda by identifying and analyzing the highest losses of the factory and brainstorming and initiating projects with the stakeholders to achieve the factory savings target and sustainability goals.I believe everything is possible with a growth mindset, positive attitude, perseverance, and hard work in the right direction. These values helped me, a South Asian science student from a small town, grow professionally and become a researcher working on cutting-edge scientific and technical research. My hobbies are reading books, watching football and cricket, swimming and going on long walks.
