I produced ideas based on some of my previous projects and honed them down to come up with an educational program for the team. Based on a video I had made of Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh buildings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnlqZ18LIHs) I considered the nature of foreign architects designing Utopian visions - a very à propos topic in China. From this idea, I designed a master-planning game with a “kit of parts” which allowed team members to explore what their fantasy utopias would be for redesigning a part of Shanghai.Learning outcomes:> Gained an understanding of sustainability through design> Learned and observed the way in which business is conducted in China. This included learning Mandarin to a basic level.> Enjoyed contributing to a multinational and dynamic team. > I also took the opportunity to explore as much of China as possible within the time available.
