She worked in the Office of the Prosecutor, War Crimes Division, State Court in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and served as a Serbian-Croatian linguist in the US Army. She is editor of "The International Human Rights Law Sourcebook" and "The International Humanitarian Law (Law of Armed Conflict) Sourcebook", published by the American Bar Association. Ms. Borene holds a BA in history from the University of Minnesota, an MA in modern European history from the University of Washington, and a JD from the University of Virginia.
