My role during the pandemic was repurposed. I was the lead on developing the new Companion Calls telephone befriending volunteer role (developed in response to the pandemic) into a corporate volunteering opportunity. This was the first major corporate volunteering role at Alzheimer’s Society.Working with over 30 corporate partners, recruiting 600 corporate volunteers which supported over 1,000 people affected by dementia across the UK.I was a finalist for an Alzheimer's Society People Award for developing a unique, successful corporate volunteering opportunity and for my effective teamwork with the Corporate Partnerships team.Aside from my role during the pandemic, my main responsibilities in this role were:• Managing and delivering projects from the ‘Volunteering Roadmap’ which is the key strategy plan for the Alzheimer’s Society • Working collaboratively with other teams and directorates. For example, I led a major change project, working with the Fundraising team, to transition 4,500 community based volunteers to become 'official' registered volunteers• Leading on innovative new projects with the aim of increasing the understanding of volunteering across the organisation • Line managing/matrix managing a small team of volunteering experts

• During my time in this role, I ‘acted up’ and covered the majority of the senior manager’s role (Volunteering Business Partner) and line managed a member of staff• Working across different directorates as the volunteering expert using a ‘business partnering’ approach to steer national volunteering projects • Working with Heads of Department to shape plans for volunteering across the organisation• Delivering workshops on best practice in volunteer management and the volunteer journey at Alzheimer’s Society to managers of volunteers

Abbeyfield is a national charity which provides housing, care and support for older people. Abbeyfield has over 500 houses (including care homes and supported living) and around 4,500 volunteers. My main responsibilities were:• Leading on various volunteering projects. For example, I led on a volunteering audit to understand volunteering at Abbeyfield in more depth which was a first for the organisation • Researching and writing good practice volunteering procedures and materials to ensure the effective recruitment, induction and support of volunteers• Using data and case studies to raise awareness in Abbeyfield of the role and value of volunteers• Providing good practice advice to volunteer managers so they could give volunteers an excellent volunteering experience• Organising corporate volunteering opportunities with companies such as BT and Barclays

A part time role with two leading after school study centres for children.My main responsibilities were:• Helping children, in groups and on a one-to-one basis, to improve their maths and English skills• Effectively managing parents’ queries and expectations• Conducting market research and analysis of marketing data• Organising the Annual Awards Ceremony with over 200 attendees

Rothamsted Research is a world leading agricultural research centre.My main responsibilities were:• Working as part of a team responsible for planning and delivering international conferences ranging from 20 to over 200 attendees• Supervising staff at large conferences and training new employees• Advising potential clients and converting enquiries into successful events

A part time role with two leading after school study centres for children.My main responsibilities were:• Helping children, in groups and on a one-to-one basis, to improve their maths and English skills• Effectively managing parents’ queries and expectations• Preparing worksheets and maintaining Excel spreadsheets
