My research focused on investigating the use of cannabinoids for treating the aggressive brain cancer, glioblastoma multiforme. This included synthesis of cannabinoid derivaties, in vitro assessment of the molecules and studying the in vivo delivery. I used a combination of analytical techniques, including HPLC and 3D OrbiSIMS (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry), to analyse and understand both the mechanism of action of the molecules, and their distribution in vivo.

For example, in one session the students learnt about how plastics are made, and can be harmful for the environment. Then they made their own biodegradable plastic. My role included assessing the safety of experiments, preparing equipment and running the sessions, as well as helping the students with experiments and answering any questions. Show less
