During my university holidays, I work front of house at The Bull pub in Otford. I divide my time between bartending and waiting tables. The role requires good communication skills, extensive knowledge about the services the company offers (including the recipes for a variety of cocktails), strong collaboration skills and the ability to upsell products to a suitable degree.

As part of the events team for Concrete Catwalk, I am responsible for planning, managing, and executing events, both for the committee and for our customers. Through the position, I have developed my organisational and communication skills, as well as my creative abilities and ability to perform under pressure to tight deadlines. The role has vastly broadened my knowledge of the fashion industry, highlighting the expectations of a logistical position within such enterprises.

My post-IB summer I worked as a customer service assistant for The Luna Cinema. In this position I replied to customer queries using a platform called Freshdesk. I was also responsible for issuing and logging refunds through Excel, as well as working with charities to organise raffle tickets. This position greatly increased my independence as I worked externally for the majority of my job. I dealt with multiple complaints and my problem-solving ability was improved as a result. Empathy skills were also required for the role and I would often deal with customers back and forth until a satisfying conclusion was met.
