This was a hands-on, autonomous role as Massey University's Equine Clinic Stable Hand. Mainly working weekends in split shifts to manage horses in the hospital. Working locations included, inside the stables, outside paddocks, and the isolation ward. Other locations were the farm animal isolation units. Operational procedures were to provide feeds specific to individual requirements, clean stalls, barn, and paddocks. It was important to accurately update daily patient records as part of SOAPS (The Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan), and to assist vets in day to daily procedures. There was a high emphasis on Health and Safety and hospital cleanliness.I was also invited to cover receptions for both the Equine Clinic and Farm Services. Using Microsoft and Word administrative tools and Animal Hospital-specific booking and client record program. I was initially employed as part-time permanent staff but later worked full-time in the weekday role for holiday cover and cover while a new person could be recruited. I enjoyed working here and the only reason I chose to leave was to focus on full-time studies in 2021.

I was originally employed to cover parental leave: PA to Lindsay Watts (Rural Salesperson) and administrative support for lifestyle and residential salespeople in the Masterton office.My 10 years of experience as a Real Estate Salesperson stood me in good stead and I enjoyed bringing my passion for Real Estate to the role. It was an unknown if I would like being in a supportive, administrative position and I now can say I was competent and comfortable in this position. Majority of work was using PropertySuite and Microsoft office programs. Contract was terminated when Bayleys closed their Greytown office and relocated the Senior Administrator to the Masterton office.

I lived on a lifestyle block near Clyde and Alexandra, Central Otago. I established a horse trekking business, that started with rescuing horses off the race track and re-training them for hacking (casual riding) and re-homing. Most of the tours were on local farmland so I had to develop a good working relationship with the farmer(s). I had a rewarding career and one of my favorite experiences was rehoming Kaimanawas off the Kaimanawa Heritage Horse Trust's biannual cull. Their stories were not all success stories, unfortunately. My highest achievement was leading a pack-horse trail as the Trail Boss for the 2013 Otago Goldfields Trust annual Cavalcade. With over 10 years of experience, I had definite highs and lows, and while the lows were heart-breaking, I was very pragmatic in my attitude.The luxury rural apartments (developed with my ex-husband) as accommodation was an extension of the tourism business.
