As a passionate textiles teacher I was contacted by HEIAQ to travel around Queensland for their annual Regional Workshops; speaking to Home Economics teachers about the importance of Creativity in the Classroom. So too, I presented teachers with information applicable to the Australian Curriculum and practical lessons to use with their students and encourage enthusiasm and lifelong learning. The general capabilities of literacy, numeracy and information technology were also a focus of this workshop.

This course is modelled upon a typical Queensland School Textile Technology course that progresses from Year 8 to Year 10 with a brief exposure to the Senior years. The course provides a practical 'hands on' learning context through which content knowledge in Textile Technology is presented. It engages with theory applicable to school foundations, and requirements including QSA syllabus documentation and the Australian Curriculum. 2014 sees the imbedding of Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology as CQ University becomes a comprehensive university. It is through this engagement that I have been working hand in hand with Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, Mt Gravatt campus. 2016 saw the implementation of this course and all course material (produced by myself) – implemented in Brisbane. In 2020, the University plans to extend this further to implement in China and other World Wide CQ University campus’.

As a review pannelist I was a member of a team that externally moderate school-based assessment to quality assure school assessment decisions. Provided advice to the review panel chair to inform recommendations about the approval of school work programs, assessment design, application of standards and student achievement. I used QSA syllabuses and related documentation to inform my reviewing and assist me to make and justify decisions, advice and recommendations. Effective verbal and written communication skills were pivotal to complete reviews, reach consensus and provide advice to the review panel chair.
