Used the unusual approach of treating the city as if it was a corporation selling products, categorized these products into two market segments, fixed locations and annual events, and treated other regional attractions as the competition. Gathered and analyzed data on the success of previous marketing efforts versus those of the competition, establishing current state. Created detailed action plan for improving the marketing of the city’s current products, developed a suite of potential new products with cost/benefit data analysis.
