I am a self-employed garden designer and gardener, embracing the ability to create beautiful spaces and bring the positive benefits of plants to more people and more areas. As the former New Plant Trials Officer and Environmental Compliance Officer at Allensmore Nurseries, I gained a wealth of experience growing, nurturing, and evaluating shiny new plants that have the potential to become the most desirable item on the garden centre benches, whilst ensuring they’re recognised at the trade shows and public shows. One example of this is Hydrangea ‘Eclipse’, which I entered into Gardeners’ World Live (Hot Off The Potting Bench), and won Platinum, and People’s Choice.I adore spending time with the breeders of new plant varieties too, learning about the stories behind them and their passion for what they do - I find it a joy to see and hear. I have a lot of experience in verbatim editing and transcribing, which has instilled in me excellent attention to detail. Coupled with my creative flair, I spent some time copywriting for Golden Valley Plants, a web-based shop that sells high quality perennials. My love for writing continues as I have begun creating articles that explain how plants can be used to help people on their journeys of grief, addiction, and other mental health disorders that impact their daily lives. Finding solace in plants as I was grieving led me to study Horticulture with the aim of helping others.
