This thesis addressed the new item problem in recommender systems, which pertains to the challenges of providing personalized recommendations for items which have limited user interaction history. The study proposed and evaluated a content-based method for generating personalized recommendations for new shows, series, and movies, by using information retrieval and natural language processing. Two models for feature representation were utilized and compared, in terms of predicting user preferences for new items based on their previous streaming history.

To streamline the application process, I successfully implemented OpenApply, an admissions management system and CRM, which facilitated the digitization of applications. This resulted in improved efficiency and enhanced tracking capabilities throughout the application lifecycle. Furthermore, I initiated and implemented a process to streamline and improve the transcript generation process. By establishing standardized routines and templates, I ensured consistency and quality assurance in transcript production. As a result, we experienced a noticeable increase in efficiency, allowing for smoother workflows and reduced errors.
