As Curator I reported directly to the Gallery Director and was responsible for Gallery operations in their absence. This was a very public-facing position involving a great deal of community engagement. Key responsibilities included:• Curation, design and delivery of exhibitions (local, national and international)• Community/audience relations – representing the Forrester Gallery locally and nationally• Interpretation and research of collections for care and display• Gallery programming and project management• Oversight of publishing, marketing and press• Event planning and management• Management and delivery of educational outreach.• Website development and social media management.In this role I worked closely with colleagues at the Waitaki District Council in the development and delivery of programmes in support of community identity through arts, culture, history, science and literature. This was exemplified in the launch of a shared cultural portal for the community culturewaitaki.org.nz.
