As Principal Email Engineer at Litmus, I advocate for email developers by writing blog posts and presenting conference workshops and webinars based on my findings and research. I also work cross-functionally with Product to aid the development of tools that empower email developers to build better user experiences, like Accessibility Checks.

• Facilitated adoption of the new design system by documenting site-level patterns across the developer ecosystem and holding office hours to onboard designers and engineers.• Advocated for the UX Platform team by creating and giving presentations to illustrate new features we built as well as code and design improvements at bi-weekly company Sprint Demos.• Enforced design consistency by peer-reviewing pull requests and refactoring CSS, PostCSS, and React component props for efficiency, optimizing performance, and to align with WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards.• Optimized front-end elements across the entire monorepo by maintaining components throughout the design system’s symbol library, updating changes to components and variables in React Styleguidist, and opening pull requests in Git to pass updates onto every instance.• Increased operational efficiency by driving down tech debt; deprecating, refactoring, and consolidating thousands of lines of code; identifying bugs; and creating stories to address errors in JIRA with acceptance criteria, documentation, and how changes would impact the rest of the monorepo.

• Optimized the entire email codebase for efficiency by standardizing code elements and developing and regularly maintaining an HTML style guide for marketing emails to ensure uniformity and code compatibility across 21 localized languages.• Drove innovation to create an award-winning email program by introducing progressively-enhanced elements in email such as interactive carousels, hover effects, and custom web fonts that are supported across the top 5 email clients.• Facilitated modernization of marketing websites by developing landing pages as well as building a new customer success portal on the Zendesk CMS platform using semantic, mobile-responsive and accessible HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript/jQuery.

• Built the first Kinetic Email offering in the United States. (See Salesforce's blog post covering this, below)• Optimized the email user experience for security and facilitated sanitary data collection by developing preference center landing pages with form validation that checks email addresses, international phone number formatting with regular expressions, and physical address formatting using semantic HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, Sass, Javascript/jQuery, and modern web standards.• Established weekly team status meetings to build team cohesion, increase knowledge-share, exchange training statuses, and discuss industry trends.• Refined existing “expandable” percentage-based dynamic email templates, and documented best practices for them.

• Evangelized emerging mobile-responsive email capability in iOS and Android by initiating pitches for an offering of responsive emails to clients, as well as building instructive decks and presenting webinars to train developers both internally and externally on using CSS3 media queries to achieve responsive design.• Dramatically lowered the NYC development team’s error rate by initiating and implementing a new peer-review and quality-assurance process, resulting in a doubling of error-free campaigns and a personal 100% error-free rate.• Managed coding expectations both internally and externally by delegating workflow and coordinating with stakeholders and clients.• Demonstrated expertise in the construction and execution of dynamic email campaigns by coding for flexibility, expandability, the most current standards in HTML and CSS, and continuing to document best practices for them.• Contributed research to sales white papers on cross-channel integration with display ads and social network media.• Led an international teleconference, presenting on the topic of display ads and how to leverage their use in conjunction with email.
