About Alice M.

Driven by a passion for community engagement and sustainability, I leverage my expertise in leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management to drive impactful change. As the Community & Youth Development Officer for Climate FORTH, I lead initiatives to boost community resilience to climate change in the Inner Forth region. My role involves collaborating with pilot communities to develop Local Resilience Plans, implement participatory budgets, and launch youth engagement programs, including a Young Leaders pilot. I also drive family outreach and work with community heritage groups to promote inclusive climate action. By creating guidance and sharing insights with other organisations, I aim to ensure lasting progress beyond the project's duration.Previously, at Ecoeats, a zero-emissions urban delivery startup for independent restaurants across Scotland, I served as Head of Support and Head of People. In this dual role, I managed a team providing live assistance to restaurant partners, riders, and customers, developed support policies, and handled escalated issues. My HR responsibilities included policy development, recruitment, onboarding, training and staff wellbeing. This experience allowed me to build strong relationships with stakeholders, contributing to Ecoeats' success and its commitment to sustainability. As Education Officer of TCDSU, I represented 17,500 students during a transformative period for Irish higher education and society. My role included managing policy research, campaigning at the local and national level and student welfare. I chaired the Academic Senate, managed the Union's Electoral Commission, and was the sole student representative on the University Board and Council. Sep 2023 - Present

Office And Facilities Manager

Loch Leven, Scotland

My role was as primary admin on the reserve: organising meetings, managing information, taking bookings, organising team socials, ordering supplies, dealing with correspondence, preparing presentations and reports and processing financial items such as invoices, purchase orders and expenses. The other aspect of my role was facilities management, including organising maintenance agreements and repairs, creating and managing contractor relationships, environmental monitoring and health and safety compliance. As well as these traditional office and facilities management tasks, I sought alternative income generation streams for our reserve, working on making our facilities more accessible to diverse visitors and improving our social media presence through monitoring our analytics and creating data visualisation, strategic planning and content creation. I also took on additional responsibilities in the form of roles such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champion, Tech Champion and Green Dragon Champion.

Mar 2022 - Sep 2023

Head Of Support And Head Of People

Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom

Ecoeats was an ambitious start up seeking to bring zero-emissions urban delivery solutions to independent restaurants throughout Scotland. As Head of Support, I was responsible for line managing the team who provided live support via telephone, email and webchat to our restaurant partners, riders and customers. This involved writing and implementing customer support and operations policies, hiring and training of team members, rota management and dealing with escalated queries and complaints. My additional role as Head of HR required me to handle recruitment, onboarding, learning and development and enhance the wellbeing of all staff.

Head Of Support

Jul 2020 - Jan 2021

Education Officer And Deputy President

After 3 years of volunteering with the Students' Union, I was elected to represent 17,500 students on academic matters during a critical year for Irish higher education and society. My day-to-day responsibilities involved academic casework, providing welfare and wellbeing support, attending meetings with university staff and administration, researching and writing policy and reports and chairing the academic senate. I also held a secretarial role for the Union's Electoral Commission. As Deputy President, I was delegated the responsibilities of the President when he was unavailable. I was elected on a platform of equality, diversity and inclusion. In order to try and create a more representative union, I developed and ran a series of 'In Leadership' workshops that sought to identify and overcome the barriers faced by different communities when participating in student politics. These workshops focused on women, disabled people, the LGBTQ+ community and people from BAME backgrounds. One of my key roles was recruiting and training student representatives at the class, school and department level. I ultimately recruited 400+ reps, a record number for the SU. Their training and support was my responsibility and I enjoyed the opportunity to organise a weekend long training conference for 200 delegates, dealing with everything from logistics to training design to entertainment. I was also given the opportunity to attend the 35th Conference of the European Students' Union in Talinn, Estonia as one of the delegates representing Ireland. I also served as Secretary to the Dublin Region Group of the Union of Students in Ireland, a body that represents approximately 380,000 students across the Republic of Ireland.I also actively participated in the Campaign to Repeal the 8th Amendment, including ensuring the policy basis for the Union's pro-choice stance, managing a canvassing team and giving speeches and interviews to local, national and international press.
