Since starting in the lighting industry I have uncovered a great personal interest in the science of light. The more I learn, the more I see just how much goes into making informed decisions for every single project. I was startled to discover the way lighting shapes our emotions and spaces! They say "Once you notice 'light', you cannot stop noticing it" and it's kind of funny how true that has become for me. They also say “good lighting should not be noticed!” So it gets a little interesting trying to balance talking about lighting with “lighting people,” while trying not to spoil the blissful unawareness of everyone else lol. Once you start to notice light, it may start to bother you more. The fun part is fixing it, and helping others avoid it in the future!I am currently focused on commercial/industrial applications, especially LED retrofits and lighting upgrades. I make it a personal mission to incorporate responsible lighting practices into as many outdoor applications as possible, and consider a human centric approach to all projects. I am also an Emerging Professional member with the IES; it is a great pleasure to talk about lighting and industry concepts with so many people I meet through the organization!
