Health education, promotion and social and behaviour change communication, non-communicable disease prevention and control, tobacco control, water sanitation and hygiene, health communication and disease prevention.

As a public health officer, I supervised 5 general sanitary men (health labourers) and 4 other assistant public health officers. Assisted the officer in charge of the health facility in the day to day functioning and management of the facility. Chairs all staff meetings and serves as the focal person for infection control in the health facility. Supervised 2 districts stretching over 140 communities on prevention including organised community health structures such as village support groups, village health workers, community birth companions (formerly traditional birth attendants). Conducted the vetting of births and deaths before registration and finally assist the regional public health officer in the execution of his duties.

Supervises a catchment area of 35,025 people in the Rural Districts of the Gambia. My job here is to ensure the health of this population through health educations, community sensitization, vaccination and immunisation of children under five years and pregnant women. Birth registration, food and feeds inspection, environmental sanitation are as well part of the numerous activities that i spearhead within this catchment area. Data collection and analysis of health indicators is also part of my responsibilities.
