For the past 20 years, I worked with several news outlets following varying editorial guidelines, some with conflicting agendas, this alone provided me with vast experience on how to practice journalism in a politicized sphere while adhering to my journalistic values. Working for BBC, AlJazeera, AlMayadeen, and others helped me build a solid experience in News and Current affairs, mainly reporting, interviewing, producing, live coverage, and overlooking teams on ground.Besides, I have been writing analysis and news reports for several news outlets including BBC Arabic, Al-Monitor.com, The Huffington post, The National, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Tokyo's Facta magazine, and The Middle East Institute in Washington, focusing mainly on Iran, Political Islam, and crisis in Syria.My analysis and reports were cited in tens of books and academic papers published in the past years. Being BBC's Iran affairs correspondent took me to Iran and other countries around the region where the Iranian story was related. It wasn't easy to cover a country while having minimum access to it, yet this wasn't a barrier as I was able to produce many stories, applying skills of digital storytelling, social media reporting, and in-depth analysis to present the story to an audience who had many other alternatives to follow, yet chose to do through our eyes. At Al-Mayadeen, I played a vital role in building the channel's assignment desk during the launch period. Later, I returned to the field to cover stories from Syria, Egypt, Gaza, Venezuela, Iraq, and Sierra Leone, before becoming the channel bureau chief in Tehran. In Tehran, I witnessed the transition from one government to another, and later covered the Vienna talks that saw a historic nuclear deal reached between Iran and P5+1.I launched AlMayadeen online, the digital arm of the network, and I was the head of this division working with a group of young journalists besides another group of experienced ones on creating online content and interacting with people.At Al-Jazeera, I had the chance to cover the revolution in Libya, the crisis in Syria, famine in Somalia, and elections in Iran, besides undertaking training courses.Among stories I worked on was the many names of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi for AlMonitor and We just missed the ISIS leader for the Sunday Times.
