I am involved in advising clients in all aspects of patent law including patent application preparation, prosecution, counseling, and portfolio management. I additionally conduct searches and prepare corresponding patentability, freedom to operate, and non-infringement opinions. My practice is concentrated within a wide variety of electro-mechanical and mechanical technologies, serving both foreign and domestic clients. I work not only with some of the firm’s largest clients, but also have counseled several small Connecticut-based businesses in creating an IP strategy and securing their first patents. In addition, I was temporarily seconded by United Technologies Corporation Building Industrial Systems, during which I worked on a variety of Intellectual Property matters including transactions and agreements and worked directly with business unit leaders, inventors, and marketing leaders.

Liaison between worldwide Engineering departments and the Intellectual Property department including: participate in inventor interviews; draft and review patent applications; prepare and draft instructions to outside counsel; conduct prior art searches for diverse technologies in the elevator and escalator industries; assist inventors with use of computerized invention disclosure submission system; train inventors on contents necessary for an invention disclosure; coordinate monthly Patent Committee meetings, facilitate review of various IP matters including national filing decisions, potential oppositions, and approval of submitted invention disclosures;

Managed the development and testing of a new system component as a member of a design team for a new range of elevator products. Provided product support for existing technologies. Created qualification and test standards for future product development. Worked with outside vendors to solve product development issues. Suggested and implemented cost-reduction efforts for both current and future system components.
