Reliability: Working on the reliability planning and testing of different electronic controllers to meet the high life expectancy with lowest AFR possible. Uses different reliability tools such as Reliasoft/Relex/JMP/DFMEA/FTA/Weibull to maximize optimization for least amount of field failures. Plan and execute CRAMS to capture issues before release of the products.Quality: Working with variety of suppliers early in design to help with our environmental spec and our quality needs as well as helping suppliers later on, to fix the field issues, after production release. Monitor AFR and help with the failure escalations. Work with design engineers to continuously improve the products. Attend the design reviews to make sure all the lesson learned are implemented into the new designs. Visit suppliers and audit/assess their quality and reliability capabilities.

Worked on a modular smart home energy platform designed specifically for residential solar, energy storage, and unified solar installations. Was responsible to meet the expected 25 years life of the product by choosing the right electronic components, testing and verification and applying reliability and Physics of failure concepts. Worked with CM and suppliers to take the product from concept phase to high volume manufacturing and release phase.

Worked on LED lighting reliability and Compliance testing. Identified the necessary stress testing for plastic enclosures, Chemical compounds, electronic components, connectors and wires. Used reliability tools such as Reliasoft Weibull++, and lambda predict software to model the testing and stress strength analysis. Worked on components selection and used reliability tools such as physics of failure analysis and DOE to develop very high reliability electronic DC to DC converters in high temperature environment for light control. Worked with outside reliability Labs and various internal and external mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering teams very closely to produce reliable products with minimum annual failure rate. Worked on global certification and testing requirements of SSL products such as UL, CE, photobiological, IPx6 testing, energy star, and LM80 testing. Designed for DFX early on and looked at the return modules trend and worked with manufacturing to address the process issues after release.

(was the tech, engineer and manager) Setup the reliability Lab for testing the new high tech micro-inverter products. Worked with Safety and certification labs to conduct agency testing. Worked on components selection and used reliability tools such as physics of failure analysis to develop a very high volume manufacturing product with annual failure rate goal of less than 0.2%. Designed reliability test plans and DOE specific to API product for achieving 25 years outdoor life. Managed the outside labs for conducting HALT/HASS testing. Performed FMEA and HTOL. Used Weibull analysis to improve field reliability. Researched and improved reliability and quality of components, assemblies and subsystems, mechanical and processes. Developed ORT, Suppliers and new component qualification plans, manufacturing process qualification and worked with various engineering groups such as design, manufacturing, and customer support for data collection, analysis and identification of opportunities for reliability & quality improvements. Used Optical Microscopy, X-Ray, SEM/EDS and other analytical techniques to find root cause of failures. Worked with Intertek and MET Labs to obtain safety marking for North American market.

Was responsible for overall Quality of Adaptec products.

Tested IDE and SCSI hard drives with different RAID cards. Provided test suites, procedures, plans, reports, and helped resolve testing issues with HW and FW design teams. Used SCSI and IDE analyzers, scopes, and logic analyzers to capture traces and debug the issues.

Was responsible for testing Epson’s Laptops and Desktop products. Qualified DIMM, Hard drives, Monitors and other PC peripherals.Used scopes, and logic analyzers to capture traces and debug the issues with vendors.Created test plans and procedures to test Epson’s PC products. Leaded OEM EISA and ISA products on Epson side. Approved the results of reliability, compatibility, EMC and all other related test data.Managed overseas manufacturing in Korea and Taiwan. Successfully finished more than a dozen OEM projects on time.

Main function was LAN designing, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance, and load testing. Extensively used network analyzers such as HP4971 and Excelan 5000. Tested media such as Fiber Optic, Ethernet Coax, Type I. Also worked on protocols such as XNS, TCP/IP, and DECNET.
