I’ve always been happiest when I’m working towards a goal. In high school I wanted to continue studying Japanese in university. After university, I decided to use my language skills and get an MA in Translation.Now, having worked as a translator for many years, I find myself asking the question: What next?When thinking about my future career path, I cannot see myself continuing to work as a translator any more. I’m too ambitious. I want to be challenged by my work and to continue growing as a professional.During my brief stint as a project manager for Barbara Pope, I was always excited to start a new project. There were often challenges throughout the project life cycle that we needed to overcome as a team. And when we closed out a project successfully, there was always a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. It wasn’t what I wanted then, but it is what I’m seeking now. I want to take the skills I’ve learned as a translator and take them back to the world of project management. I’m looking forward to the challenge of learning new things.
