Alumna Of The Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (Cbyx)
Germany
I was selected among 250 American high schoolers to live in Germany for a year on a full scholarship provided by the partnership of the U.S. Department of State and the German Bundestag. I was selected based on my written essays where I proved my ability to live in Germany as a youth ambassador for the USA and through a two-day interview where I demonstrated enthusiasm and interpersonal skills. In Germany, I attended a month-long language immersion camp, lived with a host family, and attended German high school. Part of my responsibilities as a CBYX participant included volunteering in my host community and completing an end-of-year capstone project where I presented to several 8th and 11th-grade classes about American culture and the importance of international relationships.
