Concierge
I was invited to join the Optus team as a Concierge through the Area Manager after working for them at the Commonwealth Games Village Store, located in Southport-Gold Coast, for 5 weeks in between March and April. I had such a great time working for them, as a Brand Ambassador, that I took advantage of the offer and went for an interview with the Queen St Store Manager for the Concierge position in May, while I was doing other Brand Ambassador casual jobs. It has been a challenging but really great experience to work for them. My role:- Approach customers that come to the store, find out their needs and address them through the appropriated channels;- Deal with and address customers complaints;- Manage the store flow in a timely and organised manner.I went on maternity leave in November 2019. Since then, I have been looking after my daughter and working on new skills.

I've worked in the hospitality industry since 2011 in many different establishments such as Brisbane Racing Course, Customs House Restaurant and agencies that would send you to different locations to cover private functions or business events. But the RNA Showgrounds was where I worked for longer and in there I had the opportunity to learn and develop most of my customer services skills such as:- Communicate effective and accurately with internal and external stakeholders;- Work in a team and individually;- Lead, delegate tasks and supervise a team;- Manage cash flow and problem solving.

Barista
Working at the Children's Hospital was challenging in different ways. It was hard to see kids/infants very ill and debilitated, with very heartbroken parents that would come down to spare their minds and refill the tank to continue the journey to be there for their son/daughter. Also, my clients included busy doctors and nurses that were having a quick break to get back to their job looking after the patients. So, at the same time that you had to be fast, you also had to provide a pleasant and enjoyable time for those that needed to lift up their spirits to continue their day. It was very rewarding to make some people smile or just have the time to put it out their concerns /feelings and leave the cafe lighter and with a great cup of coffee to keep going. I had the pleasure to work mostly at the level 7 cafe, where most clients were doctors, nurses and students because we knew we were there to provide a great customer service experience.

Communication Advisor
I started working for this organisation in 2002 when a friend from university, Leana Mattei invited me to join her in a 3 days trekking to visit the most isolated village in the middle of Chapada Diamantina National Park. On the way there, I found out that actually we were going with this environmental group to do one of their project's visit. I fell in love with the cause straight away. In fact, I decided to stay one week more to help with other visits in the region and so I became officially the project volunteer. My mentors at the time were so passionate about their projects and the environment that I didn't want to stay away for a minute. Unfortunately, after 2 years volunteering, the project still didn't have money to hire me as an intern so I got moved to another one, from the same organisation, but that dealt with Environmental Public Policies as they had a position available. I learned a lot from Renato Cunha, my project manager. He is a great public speaker and passionate advocate. I followed him everywhere and learned a lot from him. I was a very dedicated apprentice, and started to represent the organisation in meetings. I ended up having a seat at the Environmental City Council of Salvador (COMAM) for 2 years: lobbying, discussing and analysing projects that would have social and environmental impact in the local community.I would still get some time to volunteer to the other two projects from that was focused on reforestation and wildlife rehabilitation in regional area, managed by Elbano Paschoal, and the Chapada Diamantina Project, managed by Maria Theresa Stradmann. I was really lucky that when I finally graduated, they were writing together a project that would need a Communication Manager and when the project got approved I started to work exclusively for them. Unfortunately, by that time I had decided already to come to Australia. I am very grateful and thankful that I could stay all those years learning from them all.

Community Development Worker
The goal of the project was to organise and empower the Recyclers Collectors in cooperatives so they can have control and learn how to self-manage the recycling services with their partners.I have to say that this job took myself to another level. I grew so much during this year that is a bit hard to put in words. For the first time I had freedom to manage my schedule as my main job responsibility was to contact our partners (that agreed to donate their recyclable wastage) to organise lectures/ activities about the cooperative, 'Environmental, Waste and Recycling' to increase awareness about recycling and sustainable waste management. Saying that I had to do lots of Public Speaking and also train people from the cooperative so that they could also learn how to do it and give their life changing testimonial. I remember until today the first time I had to be in front of a big crowd to talk about the beautiful work of this cooperative. It was a Wednesday afternoon at the Auditorium of the Army Complementary Training School and Military College of Salvador. The auditorium was packed of military from higher to lower ranks and as I walked towards the stage I could feel my full body shaking. I was so nervous that I changed the presentation order, playing the video first and then explaining in other words about Caec and what we would be expecting from them. It actually made me lose my fear of public speaking as I had no choice but to face them and talk. Also, I assisted the Cooperative to organise the Intrastate Recyclers Collectors Meeting and as we were located in a Metropolitan Park I organised field trips and lectures where kids could go for a discovery trekking trail to learn more about the native plants, wildlife and the importance of environmental conservation.
