I create a society to which people with disabilities contribute at their best.I have a cousin with intellectual disability. Thanks to her, I didn’t hesitate to accept when I, 17 years old, got the offer to work with children with disabilities. Since then I haven’t stopped working with people with disabilities – I’ve worked with people with all kinds of diagnoses aged between 3 and 80. I’ve worked in summer camps, after school activities, and group homes. Thanks to all the people I’ve met I’ve learnt active listening, patience, mindfulness, clear communication, low arousal approach and much more. But unfortunately, I’ve also learnt that many people with disabilities are not allowed to influence and contribute to society in the same way as many others. Which has outrageous consequences for the ones suffering from society’s obstacles as well as for society.I want to change that! Today, I work as part of the project leading team in a project called "Relationer som funkar". We aim to improve the opportunities for close relationships of people with autism and intellectual disabilities. Together with our experts, people with autism or intellectual disabilities, we work for structural changes and hold workshops for people who work with people with disabilities. I also work as a self-employed lecturer with spreading knowledge and inspiration about improving participation.
