The Liberia Municipal Water Project (LMWP), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), supports the design, tendering, execution and operation of water supply infrastructure improvements in the cities of Robertsport, Sanniquellie, and Voinjama. Working with the national water utility - Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation (LWSC), LMWP assists local and national authorities in developing plans for urban water supply and sanitation improvements, implementing short and medium-term water supply infrastructure improvements, and re-establishing local capability to sustainably operate and maintain the water supply improvements. During the four-year project base period, it is the goal of LMWP to help establish improved water supply access in each city, with infrastructure managed by locally-based entities capable of financially and technically sustaining the service. The improved water systems will provide public health and economic development benefits in the three target cities. In addition to being COP, Lead Institutional Specialist responsible for the development of the institutional and management framework for the water systems to be constructed through management contracts with private operators , taking into account existing policy, institutional and capacity frameworks Assist national authorities in developing plans for urban water supply and sanitation improvements, implementing short and medium-term water supply infrastructure improvements, and re-establishing local capability to sustainably operate and maintain the water supply improvements. Chief of Party of USAID financed project in Northern Uganda to rehabilitate the water systems in two northern towns - Kitgum and Pader. The project involved the tendering of rehbailitation and new construction works, retaining and monitoring of two private operators to run the piped water systems through an incentive-based management contract. The project provided some small capital investment, OPEX subsidies and output-based aid (OBA) for the installation of meters to increase access to water services. Lead design and oversight of contracts and water systems engineering and construction activities.
