Alisa sees adults in individual and relationship therapy sessions. In a world that is often focused on symptom relief and quick fixes, Alisa believes that we must look deeper for the source of our discomfort and problematic behavior. Much of the work she does is from the perspective of Jungian psychology, which teaches that we are aware of only a small portion of our personality, behaviors, and the motivations for those. The bulk of what influences our behavior, feelings, and ways of thinking resides in the un(sub)conscious . These subconscious parts of us reveal themselves in dreams, through the people to whom we have emotional responses, and in our behavioral and emotional symptoms. The process of discovery and awareness of these aspects of self is necessary in the journey toward wholeness. In addition to becoming aware, we must also learn to have acceptance for, listen to and work with the parts of ourselves that continue to carry the pain and negative messages of our woundedness. Alisa often guides her clients in imagery exercises that facilitate connection with the members of this “inner community,” which can create powerful shifts in emotions and behaviors.
