Alisha K. Martinez, Ph.D. Email and Phone Number
I have been in the field of education, both public and private, for the last 20 years as an evaluator, project manager, teacher, practitioner, consultant, and federal employee. I began my career as a third grade classroom teacher in a Title I school in the Atlanta Public Schools and have worked in a variety of educational settings. These experiences have broadened by perspective about working with different stakeholders, presenting and using data to drive decision-making, and ensuring we’re using an inclusive approach to ensure all stakeholders are heard and that large-scale projects are implemented well. I am innovative, a strategic thinker, bring a strong research and program evaluation background, and have a track record of implementing large-scale projects on time and with quality.Prior to joining FCPS, I was a Senior Director of Research and Business Analytics at a research and technology firm, K12 Insight, where I led the administration of 40-50 large-scale research projects annually. I currently serve as the Administrator, Equity Programs in the Chief Equity Office in the Fairfax County Public Schools. At my core, I believe all students should have access to a high quality education and all families should feel safe and welcomed at their child's school. I hold a BA in political science from Haverford College, a MS in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Education from George Mason University. I hold an Administration and Supervision (PreK-12) Endorsement from the Virginia Department of Education. I have always strived to do my work by building strong relationships and through the lens of a practitioner to achieve desired outcomes. In my free time, I teach graduate-level courses on research methodology, data analysis, and program evaluation at George Mason University and the University of Pennsylvania. I recently received recognition from the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania as an inductee into the Alumni Hall of Fame.
