I am a lawyer who uses her powers for good. As a former litigator, I know firsthand the exhaustive cost of fighting to resolve conflicts through the legal system. I left the traditional practice of law in 2006 with a dream to find a better way to use my experience and education to help others avoid lawsuits and the conflicts that lead to them. In the process, I became a proud business owner, a trusted advisor and problem-solver, and a nerd for all things HR. In 2008, I joined my partners in growing a small start-up into a successful nationwide HR Consulting company called CEDR HR Solutions. During the decade-plus I was there, we built the company into a thriving business and an engaged workplace where we helped thousands of doctors, managers, and business owners solve day-to-day employment problems through education, HR documentation, user-focused technology, and expert employment law coaching. I learned what it takes to be a compassionate leader, an effective communicator, and how you can’t earn the trust of your customers if you don’t have the trust of your team. I listened to a lot of stories and helped fix a lot of mistakes. I'm proud of my work there and proud that CEDR continues to thrive with integrity and service to its members. In 2019, I started a new chapter on my own. I moved to beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida, where I took some time to pursue becoming my happiest, healthiest self. I dared to lead as an empathy and culture warrior with Brené Brown. I practiced being a writer. I learned to kayak, how to not panic in a hurricane, became a dedicated volunteer and advocate for foster children and for democracy. And I continued to work with a few select clients as a concierge HR advisor.
