Alison is a Palawa woman – her mother’s country is in the Ben Lomond region of North East Tasmania. Up until her retirement in May 2013, she had had 35 years of experience working in the federal government, including 17 years in the corporate and human resource management sectors and 18 years as a senior manager in heritage, environment and natural resource management (NRM).Her last position before retirement in 2013 was as Director of the NSW/ACT NRM team for 7 years, during which time she was integrally involved in the development and management of bilateral agreements with both these jurisdictions, regional NRM bodies and key community-based NRM bodies, also building and maintaining effective working relationships with key individuals at all these levels. During this period, she ran the then Indigenous Policy Branch of the federal environment department for a period of 8 months, significantly advancing the implementation of the highly successful Working on Country initiative, as well as other key northern and remote initiatives such as the Saltwater (Turtle and Dugong Management) Program and the Feral Camel Program.She is currently a Director of the Capital region Landkeepers’ Trust and a member of the ACT Greening Australia Advisory Council. She is also a member of the ACT NRM Council and the ACT Nursing and Midwifery Board of the Australian Health Professionals Registration Agency (AHPRA)
