AWE employs over 6000 people in a highly regulated environment and manufactures, maintains and develops the warheads for Trident the UK’s Nuclear Deterrent. AWE worked under contract to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) through a government-owned-contractor-operated arrangement (GOCO) with three shareholders: Lockheed Martin Corporation, Jacobs Engineering Group and Serco Group until 1 July 2021 when it became a Non-Departmental Public Body, wholly owned by the MOD. I lead the organisation with responsibility for managing long-term multi c£Bn investment in manufacturing, operations, and capital projects, nurturing nuclear science and engineering skills for the specific capabilities required for long-term defence programmes in a highly regulated environment that involves nuclear and explosive operations.

The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) is responsible for the design, manufacture, assembly, in-service support, decommissioning and disposal, of nuclear warheads for the United Kingdom's Trident nuclear deterrent.It employs 5,000 people in a highly regulated environment, and works under contract to the MOD through a government-owned-contractor-operated arrangement (GOCO) with three shareholders: Jacobs Engineering Group, Lockheed Martin Corporation and Serco Group. Reporting to the CEO, accountable for the delivery of £350m pa (£6bn) infrastructure projects portfolio, 1/3 of £1bn annual turnover, and involved in a range of innovative and integrated support services. Delivering a mix of complex first of a kind (FOAK) multi £bn nuclear new build structures, dependent on exceptional programme management and cost control with an engaged and motivated supply chain (>100 commercial entities). Transformed capability and performance delivery, working with multiple stakeholders to restructure the project delivery model and radically reform supply chain contract arrangements.

Reduced operational costs through centralised delivery of shared services, facilities and maintenance management.
