Retired since 2021, I have been at The University of Western Australia teaching gender, literary, and cultural studies since 2005, following ten years teaching literature at the University of Southern Queensland, and before that at James Cook University of North Queensland. The author of 3 books and editor of another 5, I publish in Australian literature, postgraduate pedagogy, cultures of maternity, feminist activism, memory, and museology. I was the general editor of Outskirts journal since 2006 -2021, and past president of the Australian Women's and Gender Studies Association.
