Footlocker was an in between job for me, hence only being there for a short period of time. Worked both on the shop floor and part of their inventory team- which included unpacking stock, packing online orders, running shoes to the team on the shop floor and keeping the backroom tidy and in order within departments, brands, styles and sizes.

At Universal Store is where my skills and knowledge really progressed. Previously at Valleygirl we were very task orientated with very little customer service involved which set me up with basic foundation for customer service. However, Universal is more focused on our customers wants and needs in order to build rapport with them and strive to achieve budgets. I stepped into more of an in depth manager role at this company as I had to manage a much larger team, setting focuses, tracking our budget hourly and also setting budgets daily, handling rosters, designating tasks and making sure they were completed and giving feedback to my team so they could work to the best of their ability. Universal Store shaped me into the worker I am today and neatened up the skills and knowledge that I already had.

Having been with the company for almost 5 years, I started off as a casual in 2016 and through hard work and determination became an Assistant Store Manager at the beginning of 2019, then slowly progressed to the position of Store Manager. I learnt the basic skills needed for the retail industry from my time at the company, that includes- customer service, visual merchandising, store presentation and stock, this made it a lot more easier for me to move into my next role in my career and owe where I am today to the experiences and knowledge that they originally taught me.
