I have just taken a teaching job at the Dili International school in Timor - instead of retiring! As you can see below I need to keep busy! I rest, I rust! I am an artist and a teacher.I have my own arts practise; I paint, exhibit, give talks on topics such as ‘ Finding creativity’ ‘ The serious business of making art fun’. ‘How art can save lives’ I have had several opportunities to talk about the teaching of art - at MCA in Sydney (2019) at CDU in Darwin (2015-2020) and Creative Therapies Symposium In Darwin(2018) The NGA in Canberra (2019) and the Festival of Teaching (2015-2020) I have had several Solo (sell out)exhibitions 'Reasons to be here, part 2019', ‘part 2018’ and ‘part 2023’ as well as taking part in regular annual group shows with the Art Educators NT, the Human Rights Show at the Supreme Court and the Seabreeze Festival Art Show.Former teacher of visual art and drama in a suburban Primary School to 400 students- four days a week. On other days involved in local theatre and community arts projects, fulfill private commissions, run my business 'Darwin Originals' (cards and prints). SInce 2020 I have a home studio/showroom- studio visits are welcome. One of the founding members of the Rapid Creek Artists Collective along with six other local friends and artists with studios, we invite the public to follow an art trail between our studios in Rapid Creek several times a year.Sone residencies (and follow up exhibitions) on Thursday Island💦 (2009) Alcoota Dinosaur Fossil Dig 🦖(2018) to name a few. Public art ‘The Blue Tiles’ 6 metre installation at Casuarina Shopping Centre, tile mural with 400 students at a local Catholic school which was blessed by the Bishop of Darwin! 😃I’m always up for new ideas and ways I can stretch my practise.
