Deals/highlights included advising on the following:• BT on the pensions aspects of its £12.5bn acquisition of EE;• Zurich on the closure of its UK defined benefit pension scheme to future accrual, and advising in relation to benefit changes in UK defined benefit pension schemes to a number of other clients;• Strategic pensions advice to a US headquartered-client on its options in relation to the sale of its UK business (which included a UK defined benefit pension scheme);• Sysco Corporation on the UK pension aspects of its $3.1bn acquisition of Brakes Group;• Zurich on its complex and innovative asset backed funding structure between the Zurich group and the trustee of its defined benefit pension plan;• UK Coal on the pensions aspects of its restructuring to separate its business operations into property and mining divisions.I contributed to Freshfields on Corporate Pensions Law (2012-2015).
